NFF Makes U-turn on Foreign Coaches

President of the Nigerian Football Federation, Ibrahim Gusau, says the appointment of Coaches for the National teams will be done differently moving forward.

Gusau stressed that the NFF will only make appointments of Coaches, foreign or local, only when the terms of contract are beneficial to Nigerians.

In recent weeks, the NFF has endured a PR disaster following the public backlash over its planned move to conduct polls to decide the future of Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro.

The Federation perhaps faced its biggest scandal when Randy Waldrum, the Super Falcons head coach, leveled allegations of bullying, interference and fraud against officials of the NFF in a series of podcast interviews.

Addressing the steps to be taken, Gusau told BRL that, “henceforth the Federation will be more careful concerning the terms of contract of any coach.

“Contracts will be treated purely as professional matters and they will be careful about the grey areas.”
