Taribo West has said the Flying Eagles of Nigeria can’t afford not to deliver at the 2023 CAF U20 African Cup of Nations in Egypt.
The Ladan Bosso tutored side are drawn in Group A where they’ll take on hosts Egypt, Mozambique and Senegal.
The tournament will also double as the African qualifiers for the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup held in Indonesia.
The semi-finalists will represent the continent at the 23rd edition of the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
Speaking with BrilaFM, the ex international insists the team has no choice than to make Nigerians happy in Egypt.
“The U17 and U20 are foundation of the national team, so I’m sure the coaches understand what’s at stake
“We are really looking at the Flying Eagles because they are very close to the national team, and any player can blossom from there and become the revelation of their generation.
“We just want to a team that’ll go all the way, make Nigerians happy, and importantly bring back the lost glory in youths competitions.” He told BrilaFM.
The Egypt 2023 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations will take place from 19 February to 11 March 2023.
