Zaidu Sanusi’s goal guides Porto to first UCL win of the season

Zaidu Sanusi was the match winner for FC Porto in the Champions League game against Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday.

The Super Eagles star started the game from the bench and was able to make huge contributions to the 2-0 victory recorded by Porto over Bayer Leverkusen at Estádio do Dragão on Tuesday night.

It was the Portuguese Champions’ first three points of this season’s UEFA Champions League, after losing to both Atletico Madrid and Club Brugge at home.

Porto started the game poorly and was lucky to stay in the tie for so long before finding a rhythm.

Callum Hudson Odoi saw a goal ruled out for offside in the first half before Patrick Schick missed a penalty.

The second half was a different ball game as Sergio Conceicao brought on Sanusi for Wendell.

The substitution however worked magic as the Super Eagles denied Bayer Leverkusen forward spaces to operate on the right flank.

In addition to the solid defensive shift, the former Santa Clara man headed in a goal cross from Mehdi Taremi in the 69th minute to put Porto ahead.

The Portuguese Champions then sealed three points with a goal from Wenderson Galeno.

The victory left Porto in the third position ahead of their opponent, while Atletico Madrid is second, with Club Brugge leading the park with nine maximum points.
