Former Super Eagles assistant coach, Usman Abdallah has criticized the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) for failing to provide adequate training and exposure for Nigerian coaches.

In an interview with Brila.net, Abdallah highlighted the lack of proper coaching education in the country and urged the NFF to take responsibility for improving the quality of coaching.

“Nigeria has to select about five to seven of us and then upgrade us,” Abdallah said.

“Upgrading means sending us to places where we can gain some attachment and experience. I’ve been saying this.”

He emphasized that merely having coaching certificates is not enough and that hands-on experience and exposure are crucial.

“We can’t just sit down and expect things to work. They have to sacrifice and invest in us,” he added.

Abdallah pointed out the need for Nigeria to compete on the global stage against top teams like Argentina, Brazil, England, and France.

“The Nigerian team is competing on the world stage. Why are we not investing in our coaches properly? If we fail to qualify for one tournament, it should not be the end of the world. We need to have a long-term vision and not just push for short-term results.”

He called on the NFF to stop expecting instant results without providing the necessary support and development for coaches.

“We just want to get everything on a platter of gold, and that’s what’s funny,” Abdallah concluded, as he urging a more strategic approach to developing football in Nigeria.
