Super Falcons defender Onome Ebi has extended her congratulations to Brazil and their captain, Marta, for reaching the final of the Olympics after Brazil’s impressive 4-2victory over Spain on Tuesday night.

Ebi, in a Facebook post shared her reaction to the news, stating: 

“Big congratulations to Brazil and the United States of America on qualifying to the finals of the Olympics 2024. 

“Personally I’m super proud and inspired by the leadership of Marta. You deserve all the Honour, Respect and Happiness football can give to you at this stage of your career. 

“You are an inspiration. You and your Country deserve all you’ve gotten at the on going Olympics 2024. Good luck in the finals, may the best team win,” she wrote

Ebi, who was not selected for Nigeria’s Olympic squad amid claims that she was imposing herself on the team.

She had refuted these allegations and expressed her disappointment stating, “Nigerians have been trying to frustrate me out of the national team for years.

“If I were included in the team for the Olympics and retired afterward, wouldn’t that be worth it? I am incredibly proud to still be actively playing at 41.”

The Super Falcons faced Brazil in the group stage of the Women’s event at the Olympic Games in Paris.
