Chairman Caretaker Committee of Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Daniel Igali is optimistic Nigeria will make it to the podium at the Tokyo Olympics.

Igali made this known while speaking to the press on Sunday in Lagos as the wrestlers gear up final preparations for the game.

The Tokyo Olympics will start on the 23rd of July, but the Wrestling event will hold between 1st to 8th of August.

Igali who was an Olympic and World Champion during his active days said, the time has arrive for Nigeria to claim take their place among the committee of winners.

“The wrestlers are ready and you know the Wrestling event will hold between 1st to 8th of August, but the athletes are saying the want the competition to start next week.”

“We have been to the Olympics several times now, but we haven’t been able to win a medal, but with the current crop of wrestlers, I think the time is right for us to win a meal at the Olympics.” He said.
