According to the latest reports, Newcastle United are looking to bolster their attacking options in
the summer and could be interested in signing Victor Boniface.
The Nigerian striker has caught the eye of various European giants during his time at Bayer Leverkusen, and it could be time for him to make the next step in his career.
A switch to the Premier League would be ideal for Boniface. It would give him a chance to test himself against the best and prepare for a potential starring role for Nigeria in the World Cup in 2026.
Newcastle Rumored to Be Interested in Boniface
Newcastle have gradually made solid additions to the team since their big money take over, and are starting to cement their status as regular top four challengers. They still arguably need more firepower in attack, though, as Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak are often plagued with injuries.
There are various rumors circulating suggesting that Newcastle have been tracking Boniface for some time, and the striker’s agents are now trying to push for a move to the Premier League side. This could potentially happen in the summer, when Eddie Howe will assess his options and decide whether he needs to add another center-forward to the squad. There’s also a chance that it could involve the sale of Isak, who has attracted interest from Arsenal and Chelsea.
Is Newcastle the Right Move for Boniface?
Newcastle started life well under the new ownership and Howe, but have struggled to live up to their fourth-place finish in the 2022-23 season. It had appeared as if they’d replicate Manchester City’s path, but it now seems that they are taking a slower approach.
Indeed, the sports bet markets often favor Newcastle’s opponents , with Nottingham Forest given a 3/1 chance to beat them in their recent tie at St James’ Park. Boniface may look at Newcastle and get the impression that they aren’t quite ambitious enough for his liking.
However, a move there could give him the chance to become the star man who helps push the Magpies up the table.
Boniface has a few other options to consider as well. It has been reported that Enzo Maresca is a fan of the player , so a move to Chelsea in the summer could be on the cards. The London club has more pulling power with international players thanks to its history of challenging at the top of the table, and may be more appealing to the Nigerian.
There were also suggestions that Boniface could be open to a move to the Saudi Pro League with Al-Nassr. If it comes down to a choice between the big money of that competition and a chance to play in the English top flight, Boniface should choose the latter. It will be incredible for his development, and it would allow him to establish himself as Nigeria’s number one striker ahead of the World Cup.
Boniface could become one of the hottest strikers in Europe if he makes the move to the Premier League, and hopefully we will see Newcastle or Chelsea will sign him in the summer.
