Black Star of Ghana midfield general, Thomas Partey insists the African Cup Nations performance won’t matter when they face the Super Eagles for a place in Qatar 2022 this Friday.
The Black Stars had a dismal campaign in Cameroon as they were knocked out of the competition in Group phase, while the Super Eagles were the best team at the Group phase.
With the both sides set to slug it out for one of the tickets to Qatar 2022 World Cup, Partey said, everything that happened in Cameroon have been forgotten and won’t have any effect on the World Cup qualifiers.
“We didn’t have great time at the Afcon , because we had little or no time to prepare for the tournament, so it’s different.”
“Now we have the opportunity to qualify for the World Cup and we are going to face good opponents with great players, but we have confident and believe in ourselves.” The Arsenal midfielder stated.
The former Athletico Madrid man also assured Ghananians that, the Black Stars will deliver the goods on the pitch.
“Of course, we have a plan, but it’s important to play as a team and give our best on the pitch, which I can assure Ghananians.” He said.
Tha Black Stars are hoping for a good first leg victory at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Friday night.
The return match wil be played next week Tuesday in Abuja.
