World Cup Friendly: Super Eagles B lose to Costa Rica

Salisu Yusuf led a contingent of players from the Nigerian leagues to San Jose where they battled Costa Rica at the Estadio Nacional.

The friendly was the last game Costa Rica played in front of their fans before traveling to Qatar for the FIFA World Cup and they beat Nigeria 2-0.

It took the hosts only seven minutes to breach Nigeria’s defense through Oscar Duarte as the former Arsenal forward Joel Campbell ran the show for Costa Rica, providing a brace of assists.

Kendall Waston scored the second for Los Ticos in the 73rd minute to set them in the mood ahead of the World Cup.

The Central American side will come up against Spain, Germany or Japan in Group E.

Nigeria could only muster a shot on goal as Costa Rica dictated proceedings bossing 62% of the ball possession and registering 6 shots on goal.
