Women’s League Referee, Ruth Okafor has been rewarded with the “Life Saving Award” for her bravery and quick reaction in saving the life of Edo Queens Captain, Jennifer Osawaru in the week 6 Encounter of the NWPL in Ilorin.
The award was presented to her by the President of the Nigeria Referee Association (NRA), Tade Azeez and also the NFF Vice President, Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi.
On the said day, Okafor on noticing that a ball was shot directly at the face of the player forcing her to slump immediately.
The brave referee, who is also of the Nigeria National League (NNL) cadre applied some of the techniques taught her during one of the FIFA MA Course in Abuja to revive the player who had slipped out of consciousness.
The Nigeria Referees Association, NRA congratulated Okafor on the honour.
