Third seed Marin Cilic suffered a stunning exit at Wimbledon 2018 in the hands of Argentina’s Guido Pella.
Cilic was viewed as the biggest threat to Roger Federer in the top half of the draw but suffered the most remarkable of defeats in five sets to the little-fancied Argentine.
The Croat was a runner-up at the All England Club in 2017 and defeated Novak Djokovic in the final of Queen’s already this year, with many considering him among the favourites for the title.
He was due to meet Federer in the semi-finals but the Swiss will now avoid one of his most dangerous opponents as Pella won 3-6 1-6 6-4 7-6 (7-3) 7-5.
