There will be no NPFL hiding place for Lobi Stars – Ubong Friday

Akwa United striker, Ubong Friday has said there will not be any hiding place for top-flights, Lobi Stars when both sides clash on Friday.

The Promise Keepers are hosts of the Pride of Benue in Friday ’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) matchday 36 clash at the Uyo Township Stadium.

Friday said though every team comes to Uyo with the mind-set to either win or pull a draw his side will turn back empty-handed the Makurdi landlords.

“Of course, we are going all out for outright victory irrespective of the opposition and pitch.

“Teams come here in Uyo to either win or draw that includes Lobi Stars but we won’t want that to happen especially at this point in time that the league is almost running its full course.

“Akwa United are on a straight forward march towards realising its season’s dream and we will avoid any act that will take us back.

We are third at the moment our dream is to push to the second aimed at finishing high to earn a ticket to the continent.

“Of course, the task to secure a continental spot for Akwa United is daunting but achievable and we are damn committed towards its realisation.

“The return of our CHAN players, Aremu Afeez, Alhassan Ibrahim, Ariwachukwu Emmanuel and Ifeanyi Ifeanyi as well as striker.

Christian Pyagbara is huge plus going into the crucial game against Lobi Stars although we hardly rely on individuals rather we play as a team.

“We have won matches without the above mentioned players in the past but it’s really great having them around.

“So I can comfortably tell you that there will be no hiding place for Lobi Stars as we cannot negotiate the three points at stake.”

The Uyo landlords are third on the 20-team top-flight on 54 points eight behind league leaders, Plateau United.
