Leicester City’s midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi is set to be sidelined for a minimum of three months due to a muscle injury.
The setback was confirmed by Leicester City coach Enzo Maresca, who anticipates a lengthy recovery period for the 27-year-old.
Having missed Leicester’s Championship victory over Huddersfield Town on New Year’s Day, Ndidi has also been ruled out of Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations squad.
It is estimated that Ndidi will miss approximately 15 of Leicester’s remaining 20 league games this season.
Despite his impressive season, making 24 appearances with four goals and six assists, Ndidi’s injury has dealt a significant blow to Leicester City’s midfield strength.
Maresca expressed concern during a pre-match conference:
“Probably for Wilf, it will be a long time. It could be three months. It looks like a muscle problem, but an important one. We’ll see in the next few hours. The situation for Wilf is the clearest one.”
Wilfred Ndidi’s absence poses a challenge for the team, especially as Championship enter crucial stage of the season.
