Super Eagles Head Coach, Jose Peseiro has revealed that Italy based goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye did not turn up for this month’s World Cup qualifiers due to passport issues.

Initially named in the 23-man squad for the matches against Lesotho and Zimbabwe, Okoye withdrew and was subsequently replaced with Bendel Insurance goalkeeper Amas Obasogie.

This setback comes after the former Super Eagles first choice returned to the squad for last month’s international friendlies against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique, marking the end of his self-imposed exile.

However, the 24-year-old did not see any action in the games, with Francis Uzoho preferred by the Coaches.

Super Eagles will face Lesotho later today and Zimbabwe four days later, in the World Cup qualifiers.
