93
In a recent interview on Brila FM’s Big Interview, Kenneth Omeruo opened up about the profound impact late Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi had on his career.
Omeruo shared insights into Keshi’s coaching style and the personal influence he had on him during his formative years in football.
One significant moment Omeruo highlighted was when the Coach selected him ahead of then captain and veteran CB, Joseph Yobo, as starter in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
This decision came as a surprise to Omeruo but marked a pivotal moment in his career.
“Stephen Keshi was the biggest influence in my life as a player,,” the AFCON winner told Brila Media.
“When he picked me ahead of Joseph Yobo at the AFCON I was really surprised and that was a big moment for me.”
On the fourth anniversary of Keshi’s passing, Omeruo penned a tribute in honor of the former Super Eagles coach.
“You gave me more than one chance and you told me several times, until it stuck to my head, that everyone cannot love me. You told me to work hard always and not expect to be favoured because hard work always wins
