The last has not been heard about the ongoing controversy between Super Eagles midfielder Kelechi Nwakali and his Club Huesca.
The current toxic relationship between the midfielder and the Spanish Club has consistently dominated the Spanish and Nigerian media space in the last three days.
In a statement released via their website, The Club confirmed the indefinite suspension of the player, after returning late from African Cup of Nations duty with Nigeria.
Huesca have also opened up disciplinary proceedings against him, and not allowing him to come to the training ground, despite the fact that the player provided a doctor’s report explaining his lateness.
However, reports from Spain suggests that, Huesca are overreacting, because the former Arsenal star rejected a new contract proposal from the Club and communicated his wish to leave.
Football Espana revealed that their relationship has broken down to the point of no reconciliation and the Club could be planning to sack the player to avoid paying him for the rest of the season.
On deadline day of the January window Ruben Garcia, Huesca’s sporting director, tried to loan Nwakali out on loan to Burgos, but talks broke down, due to €80k loan fee.
No club was willing to pay the loan fee Huesca demanded, and Huesca said they won’t be paying the player until he finds a new team.
Nwakali, who spent time on loan at MVV Maastricht and VV Van Venlo of Netherlands, FC Porto of Portugal and AD Alcorcón of Spain, signed for Huesca in 2019.
