Victor Osimhen requested to be omitted from the Super Eagles squad for the friendly games against Mexico and Ecuador.
A Nigerian Football expert, Adepoju Tobi Samuel, made the disclosure, shortly after the 30-man for the games was released on Tuesday.
“According to my source; Victor Osimhen requested to be excused from the friendly games against Mexico and Ecuador.” Adepoju wrote on Twitter.
The reason behind is decision is unknown, but some quarters suggest, it could be due to club engagement.
Osimhen has been in good form for Napoli this season— netting 12 times in the league and 16 in all competitions to lead the Partenopei back to the Champions League.
He’s not the only regular to miss out on the team, Leicester City forward Kelechi Ihenacho, Taiwo Awoniyi of Union Berlin, and Odion Ighalo of Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia.
