Following Edo Queens’ 3-0 victory over Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) in their debut match of the CAF Women’s Champions League, Super Falcons Forward, Folashade Ijamilusi stood out, picking up from where she stopped in the international break for Nigeria.
The Nigerian and WAFU B champions started the tournament on a strong note, a 3-0 win, that places them at the top of Group B.
Ijamilusi articulated her elation over her current performance and credited her growth to influential figures in her career.
“I feel so good about my present form. I’m very happy about it. It has been good all the way.”
She offered special recognition to past and current mentors, including Coach Emmanuel Osahon of FC Robo Queens and Coach Moses Aduku, who continue to play pivotal roles in her development.
“A lot of thanks to the coaches I’ve worked with, who have impacted great things in my career. I want to say a very big thank you to FC Robo Queens, Coach Emmanuel Osahon, who made sure I achieved my aim during my stay in the team.”
“ And also to Coach Moses Aduku, who also is making a great impact in my career. God has been really faithful to me,” she added.
Edo Queens will face FC Masar of Egypt in their next group-stage match.
Masar surprised many by defeating defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0 with a late penalty scored by Samar Niyonkuru.
This result puts Masar just behind Edo Queens in the group standings based on goal difference.
Folashade Ijamilusi stated that the team is dedicated and working hard both under the sun and in the rain to achieve their main goal, which is bringing the trophy home.
