Manchester City are Champions of Europe for the first time in their history after defeating Inter Milan 1-0 at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium.

It was a game envisaged by many to be one-sided, but Inter Milan’s show of discipline and tactical nous ensured that it was a proper contest.

The first half was a closely contested affair by both sides as Inter contained the advances of Manchester City, making sure the channels for third-man runs were blocked and played compactly.

Manchester City had a serious worry when Kevin De Bruyne was substituted in the 36th minute due to an injury, and it affected the directness of their attack, leading the teams into the break still goalless.

The second half started with City rejuvenated and they started to rack up the chances, one of which Rodri got on the end of to send a stunning strike into the back of the net to put the favorites ahead.

Inter responded with two big chances the first crashed off the crossbar while the second drew out a stunning save from Ederson, but City were lucky on the night albeit they were deserving Champions.

By winning the UEFA Champions League, City completed a stunning terrible, becoming the second English team after Manchester United to accomplish that feat.
