CHAN Eagles captain Nduka Junior has expressed confidence in his team’s ability to excel at next month’s African Nations Championship, CHAN, set to take place in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.

The Nigerian team secured their spot in the competition after defeating Ghana 3-1 on aggregate during the playoffs, with determination and quality in the process.

Remo Stars skipper Nduka Junior, who will lead the CHAN Eagles in East Africa, is optimistic about their chances when the tournament kicks off on February 1, 2025.

Speaking about the team’s mindset, Nduka said, “We are not the favourites, that will be teams like Morocco and co-hosts Tanzania and Kenya, we will respect our opponents, but we are not scared of any of them.”

The 25-year-old also highlighted the unity and talent within the squad, emphasizing the opportunity the tournament provides for players to shine on a bigger stage.

“We will give our best, just as we did against Ghana in the playoffs. “We are united and have quality players who will represent the country for the CHAN.

It’s an opportunity to showcase yourself and boost your profile,” he added.

The draw for the tournament is scheduled to take place on January 15 in Kenya, where Nigeria will learn their group-stage opponents.

The CHAN Eagles will be hoping to make a strong statement in East Africa as they compete against some of the continent’s best home-based teams.
