Nigerian Champions Rivers United will know their next opponents in the CAF Confederations Cup on Wednesday.
Rivers qualified for the last eight of the competition, despite losing their final group game to ASEC Mimosa of Cote D’Ivoire on Sunday.
Mofosse Karidioula scored in the second minute to condemn the Nigerian champions to their second defeat in Group B.
Rivers United finished second in the group with 10 points, while ASEC Mimosa won the Group with 13 points.
“We played below par, but it wasn’t a bad outing,” Eguma stated in his post-match chat with the media.
“We lost the game due to the blunder we made very early and it weakened the team, that was the reason we lost this game.”
“But I’m confident, we’ll be ready for the quarter final,” He concluded.
Rivers United is the only Nigerian club left competing on the continent.
Plateau United, Kwara United and Remo Stars all failed to go far.
