It was matchday weekend across leagues, and Nigerian players were once again in action for their respective clubs.
From England to Turkey to Belgium, delivering standout performances and critical contributions.
Here’s a recap of how some of these players fared
Alex Iwobi – Fulham
Alex Iwobi continued his impressive form for Fulham, assisting Tom Cairney’s second-half equalizer in their 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Brennan Johnson had given Spurs the lead after a tightly contested first half. Despite Tottenham’s dominance and missed chances to extend their advantage, Iwobi punished their profligacy by setting up Cairney with a precise pass.
While Tottenham hit the woodwork multiple times, Fulham’s Nigerian defender Calvin Bassey put in a commendable performance, helping to keep his side in the game. However, Fulham’s efforts were hampered in the 83rd minute when Cairney was sent off for a reckless tackle.
Iwobi had an outstanding game, registering a 76% pass accuracy, two successful dribbles, and three goal attempts while creating two big chances.
Bassey also delivered a solid defensive performance to secure a hard-fought point for his team.
Tolu Arokodare – Genk
Tolu Arokodare’s remarkable season continued as he netted his 10th league goal during Genk’s dramatic 2-2 draw against Sint-Truidense V.V. in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League.
Playing at the Daio Wasabi Stayen Stadium, Arokodare opened the scoring in the 26th minute with a clinical right-footed finish, confirmed after a VAR review. The match saw Genk salvage a point late on, thanks to an own goal by Sint-Truidense’s Leo Kokubo.
Arokodare was a dominant presence, completing 77% of his passes, winning all five of his aerial duels, and playing the full 90 minutes.
With 10 goals and 4 assists this season, Arokodare now leads the league’s scoring charts alongside Adriano Bertaccini and Kasper Dolberg.

Despite his efforts, Sparta were held to a 1-1 draw after Tomas Vondrasek equalized in the 94th minute.
Olatunji, who played 83 minutes, was active throughout, completing 71% of his passes and converting five out of seven attempted passes. His composed finish took his goal tally for the season to nine, along with two assists.
Victor Osimhen – Galatasaray
Victor Osimhen had an impactful game as Galatasaray played out a thrilling 2-2 draw with Eyüpspor in the Turkish Super Lig.
The Nigerian striker assisted Galatasaray’s second goal early in the second half, setting up Roland Sallai for a brilliant finish. However, Eyüpspor leveled the game in the 70th minute through Prince Ampem.
