We Will Build a Fearsome Super Eagles – Benjamin James

Super Eagles assistant Coach, Benjamin James has described his appointment as a “great privilege” and believes the new coaching can build a formidable team.

James was recently unveiled as a member of the Super Eagles five-man backroom coaching staff with Finidi George at the helm.

The team’s first task is the double 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against South Africa and Benin Republic.

James said it’s an honour to serve his home country and is looking forward to a great working relationship with the Super Eagles coaches.

“It feels great and a privilege to serve my motherland,” he told Brila.net.

“I’ve been away for a while, but I have remained relevant in football doing the work for a long time. But Finidi giving me the chance to be his assistant is a good thing that we’ll be working together, it feels great.”

He also believes the Super Eagles coaches can build one of the strongest National teams in the world.

“I have gathered some experience to believe that if I Finidi and Amokachi sit down in the same room, we’ll come out with something good.”

“The pattern to be played will be discussed by the three of us. The players present in the squad currently are good, it’s just about putting them in the right place.

“Finidi is a cool headed person, I’m not so familiar with Amokachi, but I believe he’s also a cool headed person and I believe we can rub minds together and come up with the best.”
