We were unlucky against Mexico, Says Anayo Iwuala

Home based Super Eagles stand in captain, Anayo Iwuala says the players will cherish the experience of playing against Mexico for a long time.

Anayo captained the team against Mexico in the absence of injured Ikechukwu Ezenwa, but he couldn’t save them from suffering a 4-0 defeat to Mexico in Sunday’s international friendly game.

The Super Eagles endured a bad start to the game as Mexico scored twice within the opening five minutes.

The El Tri wrapped up their dominance display with two further goals in the second half, to remain unbeaten against the Africans.

Speaking at the post match conference, Anayo stated that it was a great experience for the players, but they were unlucky not to come off with something better.

“It was a great experience for us as an African player. It was a very big game because we wanted to show our quality and we are very happy to have this great opportunity. But we are unlucky that it ended this way but it is a great experience for us.”

“Our hope is to take it further to Europe to get more opportunity and to get more exposure and work ahead for the greater task.” he said.
