Benin Republic forward Jordel Dossou has revealed insights into the team’s remarkable comeback win against Nigeria.

The Cheetahs of Benin fought back after falling behind in the 27th minute to Raphael Onyedika’s goal, equalizing in the 37th minute and completing the comeback just before halftime.

Speaking after the match, Dossou who scored the equalizer said, “This style of play was worked on in training. We know that Mounié Steve wins almost all duels,” per 24haubenin.

“Before the goal action, Steve told me that since Ajayi (Nigeria player) was marking me closely, I would need to change my strategy.

“On the first occasion, he let the ball pass, but I missed it. The second time, I hid behind the defender, and as soon as Steve let the ball go, I appeared and stole the ball to equalize,” he added.
