Benin Republic head coach, Gernot Rohr, remains optimistic about his team’s chances against a formidable Super Eagles lineup as they face off in an AFCON qualifier, Today, in Abidjan.
Despite dealing with injuries to key players, Rohr is confident his squad can rise to the challenge.
The Cheetahs managed to secure a memorable 2-1 victory over Nigeria in a World Cup qualifier in June.
However, the Super Eagles later staged a strong comeback, defeating Benin 3-0 in Uyo during the first leg of the AFCON qualifiers.
Speaking ahead of tonught’s clash which will take place at the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny, Rohr acknowledges that the full-strength Super Eagles pose a formidable challenge.
“Repeating the feat of June is going to be complicated, because Nigeria is now at full strength, but we believe in ourselves..
“While we would have preferred to have Cedric and Olivier with us, we are prepared to move forward without them,” he told Foot Africain.
Nigeria currently tops the qualification table with 10 points, while Benin sits in second place with six points.
Kick-off is scheduled for 8:00 PM WAT as both teams vie for a decisive win.
