Galatasaray Deputy President Abdallah Kavukcu has declared the club’s capability to sign Nigerian star Victor Osimhen or any other player they target, brushing aside financial concerns raised by Napoli.
Osimhen, currently on a season-long loan from Napoli, has quickly become a fan favorite at Galatasaray.
The 25-year-old striker, who fell out of favor at Napoli, has found a new lease of life with the Turkish champions, scoring eight goals and providing four assists in just nine appearances.
His stellar performances have sparked discussions about a permanent move to Galatasaray, but the potential deal is clouded by financial hurdles.
Reports suggest Galatasaray is prepared to offer Napoli €50 million for the Super Eagles forward, but the transfer fee and Osimhen’s salary could strain the club’s finances.
Napoli’s sporting director, Giovanni Manna, recently dismissed Galatasaray’s chances of securing a permanent deal for Osimhen, claiming the Turkish club lacks the financial resources.
However, Kavukcu has responded with confidence, asserting Galatasaray’s financial strength to secure top players, including Osimhen.
“If Galatasaray wants a player, we will be at that table,” Kavukcu said in an interview on Thursday, as quoted by Forza Cimbom.
“Galatasaray has the power to make the right transfers at the points determined by our coach. We have the power to buy more Osimhens.”
With Osimhen thriving in Turkey and Galatasaray determined to keep him, the coming months could see intense negotiations between the two clubs.
Whether Galatasaray can back up Kavukcu’s bold claims with action remains to be seen.
