Nigeria’s U17 Women’s football coach Bankole Olowookere says he foresee an interesting quarter final encounter against the USA on Friday.
The Flamingos already arrived the venue of there match with the USA on Wednesday evening.
The team lost narrowly, 1-2, to Germany in their first match of the competition but bounced back to record a 4-0 and 2-1 victory over New Zealand and Chile respectively.
They’ll face the Americans for a place in the semi final at the Dr. DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Friday.
” As a coach I’ve achieved, but I can’t say that for the country because this isn’t the first time Nigeria will be playing at this stage.”
“I told you, I’m hear to create upset and set new record. We have to get to the semi final to beat what the country achieved in the past, so we have a lot of work to do to get Nigeria to the next phase.
“I have respect for them because they are a superpower, and I’m not sure they’ll be worrying about us to watched our matches. They are a good side and they scored quite a number of goals but we are ready, ” Bankole Olowookere said.
Nigeria, who would be aiming to break their quarter final jinx at this competition, are up against USA for the first time at this level and this encounter is an opportunity for the West Africans to make history.
