“We Are Open to a Favourable Draw” – Ogunmodede on CHAN Eagles’ Preparations

Assistant coach of the CHAN Eagles, Daniel Ogunmodede, has confirmed that the team has resumed camping as they prepare for next month’s African Nations Championship, CHAN.

The team will begin full training sessions once a sufficient number of players report to camp.

Speaking with Brila.net, Ogunmodede, who also manages Remo Stars, emphasized the importance of getting the players ready for the competition.

“We are starting training, almost with all of them. We resumed then start training,” he said.

Looking ahead to the tournament draw, scheduled for January 15 in Kenya, Ogunmodede expressed hope for a favorable outcome. “We are open to a favorable draw,” he added, as the team continues preparations for the competition.

The CHAN Eagles earned their place in the tournament with an impressive 3-1 aggregate victory over Ghana in the qualifiers.

The 2024 CHAN will run from February 1 to February 28 and will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. This marks Kenya’s first time hosting a continental football competition after unsuccessful bids in 1996 and 2018.

Nigeria’s home-based team has enjoyed notable successes in previous CHAN editions, finishing third in South Africa in 2014 and securing a runners-up spot in 2018, where they lost to Morocco in the final.

As the team gears up for the tournament, fans will hope for another strong performance to add to Nigeria’s CHAN legacy.
