Chelsea were handed a lifeline with 15 minutes to play of their International Champions Cup fixture with Inter Milan after Geoffrey Kondogbia produced the most comical of own goals.
With his side 2-0 to the good thanks to Stevan Jovetic and Ivan Perisic, former Monaco midfielder Kondogbia received a pass from team-mate Miranda and opted to look for his goalkeeper Daniele Padelli.
About 45 yards from goal, Kondogbia tried to get sufficient power on his back-pass, but the ball skipped up in front of him on the uneven pitch at Singapore’s National Stadium.

Chelsea midfielder Charly Musonda was hot on the heels of his opposite man in midfield, but the young Belgian player was still some way off challenging him.
It forced the 24-year-old’s pass to balloon up into the air, sailing over the head of the hapless Padelli and into the keeper’s top-right corner.
Kondogbia will no doubt be grateful that there was very little riding on the encounter, but that didn’t stop the France international from looking extremely embarrassed in front of the crowd of 32,000 for the high-profile friendly.
