Waldrum Makes Big Admittance About Super Falcons

Super Falcons head coach, Randy Waldrum admits he is under pressure to deliver good results at the 2023 FIFA World Cup.

Waldrum qualified the Super Falcons for their ninth Women’s World Cup finals appearance, following a fourth place finish at the African Women’s Cup of Nations in Morocco last year.

The Nigeria WNT was drawn in the Women’s World Cup Group B, same as co-host Australia, Canada and Republic of Ireland.

At the last tournament, Nigeria reached the round of 16, one of their best outings since 1999, when the Super Falcons reached quarter finals.

Asked if he’s under pressure to deliver, Waldrum responded: “I’ve said it several times, being a manager or a player, the pressure is always there, but, we have to learn how to cope with that. So, we can go to game with clear head and play the way we want to play.”

With regards to Nigeria facing a tough test in the opening group game against Canada, the American coach said, “Of course they (Canada) are the Olympics Champions, they’ll be difficult.

“We played them twice last year, they are well coached. I think we have the ability to be successful against them,”He said.
