Waldrum Hints on his Super Falcons Future

Coach Randy Waldrum is already thinking about strengthening his Super Falcons squad with quality players ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Following a slow start to his tenure, Waldrum is gradually making an impression with the Super Falcons, guiding them to the knockout phase of the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The team is enjoying a good run in the tournament, going unbeaten in the group stage; including with a victory against Australia.

Waldrum’s recent success can be attributed to the perfect mix of foreign-born players and their Nigerian born counterparts, as evidenced by their performances in the ongoing tournament.

According to the 66 year-old American, the recent success have also led to foreign born players calling to be part of the team.

“I’ve had some U-17 coaches reach out about players they have, a couple of really good U-20 players that are playing in the US that now want to be connected to Nigeria,” he said.

“We also have those connections in England. There are a few players there that I’m already looking at to bring to the Olympics and so forth. I think it’s a huge plus.”

Nigeria will face England in the FIFA World Cup round of 16 in Melbourne on Monday.
