Former Lagos State FA Boss Wahidi Akanni has urged Dickson Nwakaeme to come out with clear evidence to back his claims that Samson Siasia requested for a bribe from him to play for Nigeria in return.
While reacting to the revelation of Bayern Munich defender David Alaba who also revealed that former Golden Eaglets handlers demanded bribe from him before he can’t be allowed to play for Nigeria at the 2007 U-17 World Cup, Nwakaeme, however, backed the player and said he experienced same treatment from the Olympic silver medal-winning coach in 2008.
“Siasia has a penchant for excellence, if you are not good enough, you can’t be on his team. This player in question was he at any time better than a Mikel Obi or any member.
“Let him come out with proof to his claim, you just don’t come out to discredit an honorable person, Siasia’s record of selecting credible players has made him who he is not just in Nigeria but in Africa,’’ he said.
However, the former player added that some people who work closely with the coach at that time could be guilty of such allegation.
“There are dubious people everywhere, they could be using Samson’s name to the front, and because they work with him so it will be hard to doubt them.
“People can recommend people, and it’s left for the coach to filter through and decide on who can deliver, a lot of things can happen seriously,’’ he said.
