WAFU U20: Ndidi Pledges Cash Reward To Motivate Flying Eagles Ahead of SF Clash vs Niger

Super Eagles midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi has shown his support to the Flying Eagles by gifting the team N5 million after their hard-fought 2-1 win over Cote d’Ivoire in the WAFU B U-20 Championship.

The victory came after the Flying Eagles stumbled in their opening match, losing to Burkina Faso.

However,  victory against the Ivorians, Thursday, secured Nigeria’s spot in the semi-finals of the competition.

Aliyu Zubairu’s team will now face Niger Republic in the semi-final showdown today (Saturday). The match will kick off at 4 p.m. at the Stade Municipal, with the other semi-final clash featuring Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire.

Ndidi’s financial gesture, which was confirmed by the Flying Eagles’ media officer Sharif Abdallah, is aimed at motivating the players to overcome Niger and advance to the final.

Additional Support Rolling In

Ndidi is not the only one rallying behind the team. Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau donated N2 million to the squad, while sports philanthropist Victor Apugo gifted them N1 million, promising to increase it to N3 million if they defeat Niger.

In addition, Kenneth Agadugba, the chairman of Mavlon FC, has already transferred N2 million to the team and pledged to increase the amount to N12 million if the Flying Eagles reach the final.

These contributions come amid reports that the team had appealed to the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF for financial support to aid their campaign in the tournament.

With the stakes high and motivation pouring in, all eyes will be on the Flying Eagles as they aim for a place in the final.
