WAFCON 2022: How Crowd helped Morocco beat Nigeria – Pedros

Morocco’s WNT head coach Reynaldo Pedros has dedicated his side’s victory over Nigeria to the home supporters among the over 45,000 fans in the stadium on Monday night.
Pedros, who couldn’t hide his joy after leading the North African to their first ever final of the Women’s African Cup of Nations, said the fans helped his team to subbed the Nigerians.
Morocco and Nigeria clashed at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdallah and the match was closely contested.
The game ended 1-1 after 120 minutes, but the hosts triumph 5-4 winners in the penalty shoot-out over the Super Falcons who had Halimatu Ayinde and Rasheedat Ajibade sent off in the second half.
“We won against a difficult opponents with the help of the fans, I want to thank the fans, the atmosphere helped us a lot. It was amazing. They were the 12th, 13th or even 14th player. We dedicate this qualification to them,”He said.
Pedros’ team will now face South Africa in the final of the WAFCON 2022, Banyana Banyana won against Zambia earlier on Monday at the Stade Mohammed V in Casablanca.
Either one of the finalists will keep a date with history on Saturday at what the become less intimidating, yet heaving, passionate Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat.
