Sevilla ended their winless start to the La Liga season with a 1-0 victory over Getafe at home on Saturday, with Nigerian internationals, Chidera Ejuke and Kelechi Iheanacho playing key roles in the squad.
Before the match, Sevilla had struggled, failing to win in their last four games, with two draws and two losses.
However, Ejuke’s strong performance helped turn the tide for the team.
The winger started the match and impressed during his 67 minutes on the field, contributing to Sevilla’s much-improved attacking display.
While Ejuke didn’t score, his energetic play kept Getafe’s defense under constant pressure.
Iheanacho, although an unused substitute, provided huge support from his teammates from the bench.
The breakthrough came midway through the first half when Sevilla found the net with a precise shot that left Getafe goalkeeper David Soria with no chance.
The victory lifts Sevilla to 12th in the La Liga standings, easing concerns after their slow start to the season.
