Victor Sochima Joins Tanzanian Premier League Side

Rivers United goalkeeper Victor Sochima has signed a year deal with Tanzanian Premier League side Tabora United.

The 25-year-old has completed his medical check and penned a one-year contract with an option for an additional year.

Sochima was previously part of the Super Eagles squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Guinea-Bissau under coach Jose Peseiro.

He began his career with FC Heartland in the 2020/2021 season before moving to Jigawa United the following year. After a stint with Jigawa, Sochima joined Rivers United, where he played for the past two years.

With his contract with Rivers United ending last season, Sochima became a free agent and will not be involved in the club’s new era under former Super Eagles coach Finidi George, who was recently appointed as manager.

Tabora United finished last season in 14th place, and are looking to improve their standings with new signings this summer.

Sochima will join former Enyimba goalkeeper John Noble at the Tanzanian club and contribute to the team’s ambitions for a better performance in the league.

He is also the latest addition to the growing number of Nigerian players in the Tanzanian Premier League, joining the ranks of Benjamin Tanimu, John Noble, and Augustine Okejepha, among others.
