Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen is on course to win his win this year’s CAF Men Player of the Year Award.
Osimhen secured his spot in the final three-man shortlist for the highly anticipated 2023 CAF Men’s Player of the Year award.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) officially unveiled the prestigious list on Thursday via its official X handle.
Osimhen faces stiff competition from Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi, a talented defender from Paris Saint-Germain, and Egypt’s prolific forward Mohamed Salah, who represents Liverpool on the global stage.
Osimhen, 24, emerges as the frontrunner for the coveted title, fueled by his outstanding contributions to Napoli’s triumph in securing their first Serie A title in 33 years during the previous season.
His prolific scoring record, boasting 26 goals, adds weight to his claim for the prestigious honor.
Osimhen recently won the prestigious Italian Footballers’ Association (AIC) Footballer of the Year award.
He joined great players such as Rafael Leao, Gianluigi Buffon, Cristiano Ronaldo, Andrea Pirlo, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic on the list of winners.
The grand reveal of the winner is scheduled for the CAF Awards Gala on Monday, December 11, 2023, to be held at the Palais des Congrès, Movenpick, in Marrakech, Morocco.
