Victor Olatunji’s Goal Not Enough as Sparta Prague Falls to Sigma

Nigerian striker, Victor Olatunji found the back of the net for Sparta Prague in their League clash against Sigma Olomouc, but it wasn’t enough to secure a victory as they lost 3-2 at home, on Friday night.

Olatunji opened the scoring in the 12th minute, marking his third goal of the season in just eight league appearances and his sixth across all competitions.

However, the Maroons’ unbeaten run in the Czech Republic’s top flight came to an end at the epet ARENA.

Sigma Olomouc equalized through Nigerian striker, Yunusa Muritala, in the 67th minute, and Jan Fiala put them ahead with a goal in the 78th minute.

Filip Zorvan then sealed the win for Sigma with a strike in the 86th minute. Although Sparta managed a late goal in stoppage time from Ermal Krasniqi, it was insufficient to change the outcome of the match.

Following this defeat, Sparta Prague now sits in second place in the league, trailing rivals Slavia Prague, who lead on goal difference and have a game in hand.

Olatunji has yet to receive a call-up to the Nigerian senior national team.

However, if he continues to deliver consistent displays an invitation to join the Super Eagles may be on the horizon.
