Victor Ezeji Criticizes NFF’s Decision to Let Finidi Go

Former Enyimba player Victor Ezeji has criticized the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for its decision to appoint a technical advisor, leading to the departure of coach Finidi George.

Finidi George resigned after the NFF announced its intention to hire a technical advisor without informing the Super Eagles coach, despite rising from a meeting with the NFF just days before the decision.

In an interview with Brila FM, NPFL legend Ezeji expressed his concerns about the impact of this decision on Nigeria’s football future.

“The problem we always have as Black people, or in most Black countries, is that we like to kill our own,” Ezeji said.

“Peseiro in his fist five games he lost the first 3 and we gave him a year plus to handle our team, Finidi In his first 4 games lost 2 games and we want to replace him, what does that tell you?”

Ezeji argued that Finidi should have been allowed to complete the qualification process, emphasizing accountability.

“For me I think they should have allowed Finidi to see out the qualifications, if he doesn’t qualify we will know who to hold responsible.

“Now we move from Peseiro 2 games to Finidi 2 games, whoever you bring and doesn’t qualify how do you hold the person responsible? You can’t hold anybody because they didn’t start the competition with you.”

Ezeji reiterated his belief that the NFF’s decision to let Finidi go was a mistake.

“I think it a very wrong decision from the NFF to have allowed Finidi to go. They would have just allowed him to see out the run, then anything that comes out of it we will know is on the Coach.”
