Victor Boniface ties with Marcus Rashford on Europa League top scoring chart

Victor Boniface can’t stop scoring in the Europa League, the striker found the back of the net for Union Saint-Gilloise in their 1-1 draw Leverkusen on Thursday, showing his composure yet again.

Boniface came close to giving Union Saint-Gilloise the lead on the 27th of the game. The 22-year-old outplayed two Leverkusen defenders from the left flank before unleashing a low drive, which was eventually parried to safety by the goalkeeper.

The first half however ended without a goal, despite both teams creating numerous scoring opportunities to score

The second stanza was much different as it produced two lovely strikes, each from both side, to the delight of the fans at the parked Bay Arena.

It was Boniface who struck in the 51st minute to break the deadlock. The forward received a pass on the edge of the box and did managed to squeeze a curling effort that found the bottom corner of the net.

The goal was his 6th in nine appearances for the Belgians in Europa League this season.

He’s now sitting along with Marcus Rashford on of top scoring chart in the competition, with six goals.

The hosts got their well deserved equalizer in the 82nd minute through the boot kf Florian Wirtz.

The second leg comes up next week in Belgium, with Union Saint-Gilloise now favourite to go through.
