In the ongoing UEFA Europa League season, Super Eagles forward Victor Boniface is in hot pursuit of the top scorer title, currently trailing Olympique Marseille’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Brighton’s João Pedro.
Boniface showcased his goal-scoring prowess once again by finding the back of the net for Bayer Leverkusen in their match against BK Hacken on Thursday.
The 22-year-old secured his fourth goal of the campaign in the 14th minute, skillfully nodding the ball into the net from Josip Stanisic’s well-placed cross.
With a total of four goals in five games, Boniface stands at the third spot in the goal-scoring chart, narrowly behind Aubameyang and Pedro, both boasting five goals each.
Aubameyang notably scored a hat-trick in Marseille’s thrilling 4-3 victory over Ajax, while Pedro contributed to Brighton’s 1-0 win against AEK Athens.
It’s a remarkable feat for Boniface, who was the joint top scorer in the previous season alongside Manchester United’s Marcos Rashford.
As the competition heats up, all eyes are on the talented forward’s quest for glory in the UEFA Europa League.
