Victor Boniface Explains Viral Celebration After Brace in Leverkusen’s Win

Bayer Leverkusen striker, Victor Boniface reveals the reason behind his unusual celebration after scoring a brace in the 4-1 victory over Hoffenheim on Saturday.

After netting his first goal in the 30th minute, Boniface pulled down his shorts to reveal white cycling shorts and danced on the touchline before his teammates joined him.

The 23 year-old later explained that the celebration was inspired by a TikTok trend popularized by a Nigerian influencer.

“It’s a TikTok trend from a Nigerian influencer, and he asked me to do it. I told him: no problem,” Boniface told Sky Germany.

“I don’t want to provoke anyone, I only did it in front of our fans.”

Boniface added that he had planned the celebration earlier but waited until he scored his first goal to fulfill his promise.

“I would have done it in the first two games, but I hadn’t scored a goal yet. And when I did score, it was time to keep my promise.”
