VAR Denies Lookman, But Atalanta Makes Okoye Pay in Thrilling Serie A Clash

Ademola Lookman was denied a goal by VAR, but it didn’t stop Atalanta from picking up their six straight Serie A victory when they hosted Udinese, on Sunday.

Lookman thought he had scored when the ball fell kindly to him during a goal mouth scramble.

It would have been his seventh league goal, but the Referee chalked it off after a VAR review.

That was a small reprieve for Udinese and though they took the lead in stoppage time through Hassane Kamara (40+3′), the second half was all about Atalanta.

It took a while after the restart, but Atalanta fought back and by the 56th minute they were level through Mario Pasalic.

Four minutes later Isaak Toure (60′) turned the ball into his own net, leaving Maduka Okoye frustrated.

The game’s outcome saw Atalanta tie Napoli on 25points at the Serie A summit, while Udinese drop to mid table.

Six-Goal Thriller Between Cagliari and AC Milan, Chukwueze Returns to Starting XI

Nigerian winger, Samuel Chukwueze started for AC Milan in Saturday’s Serie A match away at Cagliari.

Chukwueze was an unused substitute in Tuesday’s UCL victory at the Santiago Bernabéu against Real Madrid, and so the winger was sharp coming into his 11th league appearance.

It was a dramatic match with both teams taking the lead and yielding at different points.

Eventually, they would settle for a share of the spoils after a dramatic late goal from the hosts.

Cagliari started the goal fest after Nadir Zortea opened scoring inside two minutes.

But, AC Milan responded through Rafael Leao, the Portuguese scoring a brace (15′ , 40′).

After the restart, Cagliari restored parity when Gabriele Zappa struck in the 53rd minute.

It seemed the game was balanced, but Milan smelled blood and Paulo Fonseca effected some changes including replacing Chukwueze for Reuben Loftus-Cheek (65′) and taking out Francesco Camarda for Tammy Abraham (66′).

Three minutes later and Abraham had scored for the visitors to restore their lead.

Eventually, Cagliari would go one to have the final goal action and deservedly picked a point after Zappa got his second of the game with a minute of regular time left.

The final whistle went and AC Milan will be kicking themselves as the points differential with the league leaders stretches further – 7points.
