Midfielder Christy Ucheibe has confirmed her injury just as SL Benfica prepares for the return leg of their 2024 UEFA Women’s Champions League (UWCL) Qualifiers against Hammarby.

Ucheibe sustained the injury during the first leg, in which Benfica secured an important 2-1 away victory in Sweden.

Sharing the news on her X handle, Ucheibe expressed optimism despite facing what will be a challenging recovery period.

“As you all may have heard, I unfortunately got injured in the Champions League match against Hammarby.”

“It is going to be a few hard and demanding months, but I have God who has never let me down; He will help me in my trying times.”

“I am surrounded by wonderful people with good hearts, and my full focus is on getting better than ever before. See you all soon.”

Christy Ucheibe was recently included in Portuguese League Team of the season. She lifted a quadruple with Benfica Women last season.
