Super Falcons midfielder, Christy Ucheibe was in the starting lineup as SL Benfica Feminine defeated Hammarby 2-1 in the UEFA Women’s Champions League Second Round Qualification, on Wednesday.
In front of a record crowd of 12,062 in Stockholm, Hammarby took an early lead through Julie Blakstad in the 16th minute.
However, Benfica responded strongly with goals from Cristina Martín-Prieto just before half-time and Andreia Norton early in the second half, sealing the win for the Portuguese side.
Ucheibe, who recently scored her first goal of the season in a league game for Benfica, played a key role in midfield, helping her team gain an advantage heading into the second leg of the tie.
This victory puts Benfica in a strong position as they head back to Lisbon for the return match.
