Super Eagles and Fulham defender Calvin Bassey expressed his frustration following Fulham’s 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur, insisting his team deserved all three points.

Marco Silva’s men, determined to recover from their humbling 4-1 home defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers last week, put up a spirited performance at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Fulham showed their intent early on, with Bassey’s compatriot, Alex Iwobi, shining in attack. Iwobi created two key chances, rattled the crossbar with a thunderous strike, and delivered a precise assist for Fulham’s equalizer.

Bassey, who played the entire match, praised the team’s resilience but admitted disappointment.

Speaking to Fulham TV after the game, the former Rangers defender said:

“I think it’s a hard one, I think we deserved more. They had Fraser Forster who pulled out three top saves that could have been goals. We were unlucky.

A man sent off when we started gaining momentum, but on a positive note, we were able to maintain it to make sure we didn’t concede late as we’ve done in a couple games now. We were composed, and dealt with it well.”

Despite the missed opportunities, Bassey emphasized the team’s belief in their abilities and Marco Silva’s tactics:

“No matter who we play, we’re confident in our abilities and what we can do and we trust what the manager is doing and we’ve had success from it.

We’re going to keep playing out that way and sometimes we get caught, but we could have gone on to win.

We needed a reaction after the loss against Wolves, and hopefully, we gave a good impression to the fans again. We’ve got a busy week, so it’s nice to go with some confidence into the next few games. It’s a busy schedule, but you can’t complain.”

Fulham face a demanding week ahead, hosting Brighton & Hove Albion at Craven Cottage on Thursday before taking on Arsenal at the same venue on Sunday.

Bassey’s determination and Iwobi’s creative spark will undoubtedly be key as Fulham aim to turn solid performances into victories.
