Gbemisola Yusuf, a rising Nigerian referee participated in the 2024 Young Referees Course organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), in Cairo, Egypt.
Representing Nigeria among 21 referees from various African countries, Yusuf is part of CAF’s strategic initiative to nurture young talent in officiating at the continental level.
The four-day course, held from October 28 to 31, 2024, provided advanced training in game management, positioning, integrity in football, and an introductory module on Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology.
This initiative is part of CAF’s broader vision to establish a foundation of skilled referees who can officiate in major continental and global tournaments.
Yusuf’s participation follows her officiating role in the CAF African Schools Championship and her attendance at the FIFA Member Association courses in 2023 and 2024.
Gbemisola Yusuf is also a member of the Nigeria Referee Association.
Her achievements models and will promote the rise of young, talented referees from Nigeria on the international stage, further supported by institutions like the Lagos State Referees Council.
