Real Sociedad forward, Umar Sadiq is expected to make his first La Liga start of the season this weekend as his team faces Real Madrid.

With main striker Mikel Oyarzabal out injured and new signing Orri Óskarsson still settling in, Sadiq is presented the opportunity to prove himself.

The Nigerian striker has faced a challenging period since joining Sociedad in 2022.

After scoring on his debut against Atlético Madrid, a serious knee injury (cruciate ligament tear) which left him sidelined for a year.

His return has been difficult and has brewed frustration from fans and coach Imanol Alguacil after scoring just four goals in 42 matches. He scored his last goal six months ago against Granada.

Sadiq has turned down transfer offers from clubs like Sevilla and Getafe, determined to fight for his place at Sociedad.

As Sociedad takes on Real Madrid, the 27-year-old striker aims to take advantage of the opportunity as he has not scored at the Anorta Stadium since November 2023.

He looks to revive his form and add Madrid to the list of top clubs he’s scored against.
