Super Eagles striker Umar Sadiq has called for increased playing time at Spanish club Real Sociedad as he continues to seek a return to top form.
Sadiq has faced challenges securing a regular spot since joining the club from Almeria two years ago.
His promising start, which included a debut goal for the Rojiblancos, was cut short by a serious cruciate ligament injury, ACL.
Since recovering, the 27-year-old has struggled to regain his place in the starting lineup, competing against the likes of Mikel Oyarzabal.
Last season, Sadiq managed three goals in 26 La Liga appearances under manager Imanol Alguacil. This season, he has yet to find the net, registering only one assist in eight appearances.
In a recent interview, the Nigerian forward acknowledged his dip in form but suggested that limited playing time has affected his performances.
“I just need continuity and that does not depend on me. I’m training well, I’m more than a professional now and that other part doesn’t depend on me,” Sadiq told Eldesmarque.
“The only thing I can do is keep pushing and keep training hard and, when I have continuity, it will be time to prove it.”
Sadiq remains determined to reclaim a starting role and prove his value to Real Sociedad as the season progresses.
